GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
AGC of Ohio has a comprehensive governmental affairs program coordinated through the AGC of Ohio Board of Directors and the committees. AGC lobbies and educates the state Legislature about business and construction-related issues, either alone or in conjunction with other businesses or associations. It works with state agencies on issues of concern to AGC members. And, it raises money to assist legislators and candidates for statewide office who support contractors and issues affecting the commercial building industry. Advocacy
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT & SCHOLARSHIPS
AGC of Ohio has an extensive scholarship program where the association, divisions and members sponsor scholarships under the auspices of the AGC of Ohio Education Foundation. Twenty scholarships are offered, and the Foundation recommends students for the Mosser Construction, Inc. Scholarships.
AGC of Ohio and its members participate in the Construction Futures Campaign, which
was created by AGC of America to promote construction as a career and improve the
quality of future contractors. The association and its members donate Build Up! toolkits
to 4th and 5th graders to educate them about the construction industry and the careers
available in it.
AWARDS PROGRAMS
Build Ohio has grown to be Ohio's most recognizable building awards program. Companies enter completed projects in one of seven categories. Winning projects receive the prestigious bronze and green marble Build Ohio statue.
Two safety awards programs are held annually to recognize contractors' safety efforts.
The Construction Safety Excellence Awards recognizes contractors for their overall
safety program; and the National AGC Safety Awards program awards Certificates of
Commendation for low incidence rates. In 2006, AGC of Ohio awarded its first Pinnacle
Award for Lifetime Achievement.
SAFETY
The AGC of Ohio Safety Committee provides advocacy on safety-related issues, networking
opportunities and educational programs for construction safety professionals. AGC
divisions across the state utilize their combined buying power to purchase safety-related
items in bulk. As a result, AGC members can purchase OSHA code books, What a Supervisor
Needs to Know safety manuals, and Construction Safety & Health Resource Guides at
discounted rates.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
In addition to seminars and educational programs, AGC of Ohio hosts forums to bring
members together to discuss topics of mutual concern. The AGC office houses a library
with resources to help train employees. Topics include safety training, project management,
and craft training.
PROJECT DELIVERY SYSTEMS
AGC of Ohio addresses issues related to methods of construction. The association
works with state officials on construction documents and contracting issues and with
